MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADEBOOKS
If you have a middle school child, this weekend would be a great time to log into the eSchoolData Parent Portal and explore your child’s different gradebooks. I know some teachers have already been proactively reaching out, but it’s good to get used to the Parent Portal system and know how to find what you’re looking for. Any questions about grades or assignments should be directed to the teachers first.
NOT TOO LATE FOR HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
September 15 – October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. If you would like to share about your personal heritage in your child’s class, please reach out to your child’s teacher – there’s still time and we welcome you with open arms (even if it’s after October 15)! Another way to share is through food or group activities, and our PTA has done a wonderful job organizing cultural celebrations with us.
REMINDER ABOUT BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETINGS
Attending Board of Education meetings is a wonderful way to learn more about district initiatives and how we are moving forward in our mission supporting our children. Here are answers to a few basic questions about meetings.
Can I attend Board of Education meetings? Not only is that a YES, but our Board of Education always encourages community members to attend their meetings, which are held in public, with in-person and online options. The agenda is posted in advance on the district website, so you can see the topics they will discuss and any presentations being made.
If I come, do I have to speak? Of course not, but if you wish, you ARE invited and encouraged to speak to the Board during the very first portion of the meeting called, “Hearing from Those Present.” So, if you do want to speak, please make sure to be here on time. After that part of the meeting, think of your attendance as being in “view-only mode.”
Where and what time are the meetings? BOE meetings are in the Library and are scheduled to start at 7:30PM -- they always do their best to start on time. It’s best to try and get here a few minutes early – we all simply quietly chat in the lobby by the auditorium until the library doors open. If you’re running late, still feel free to come and watch/listen.
How do I get into the building? You can enter either through the lower lobby of Gate 1, or through the Gate 3 doors down by the teacher’s lounge/auditorium. Think of it like coming to a school concert – same doors.
